A senator of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Shehu Sani has called for thorough investigation into allegations that the party’s funds were misappropriated by the outgoing administration of national chairman John Odigie-Oyegun.

In a message posted on his Facebook page on Sunday, the federal lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District noted that for the party to maintain its image of ‘saintliness’, the matter must not be swept under the carpet.

Senator Sani noted further that the crisis in the ruling party was now getting worse as warring factions are bringing out the big guns to fight what he described as a ‘civil war’.

The outspoken senator applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for taking up the tough duty of ridding the ruling party of its many challenges, starting with the Odigie-Oyegun chairmanship.

Senator Sani also applauded former Lagos state governor and party chieftain Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his role in the current cleansing going in the party.

Sani’s words come just days after it was reported that the technical committee on APC National Working Committee tenure elongation submitted its report on Friday, April 6.

Giving the document to the party´s National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, in Abuja, the committee’s Chairman, Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau, urged the party leadership to painstakingly study the recommendations.

Lalong said that if the recommendations were accepted and implemented, the leadership logjam in the party would “become a thing of the past’’.
