JUST IN: Tragedy averted in Bama as Security Operatives foil suicide bomb attack

What would have been another disaster was averted Monday night as security operatives in Bama town of Bama local government area of Borno State, northeast Nigeria, foiled a suicide attack in the town.

This came less than 48 hours after bombs detonated at a mosque killed scores of people.

A statement from DSP Edet Okon,
PPRO Borno State Command on Tuesday morning, said, at about 10pm Monday night, three suicide bombers who attempted to infiltrate Bama town through Ajilari area were sighted and challenged by security operatives.

“The bombers hurriedly detonated the IEDs strapped to their bodies killing themselves only.

“The area has been rendered safe by PMF and EOD personnel of the Nigeria Police Force. Normalcy has also been restored.” The Police said.

The statement also said Commissioner of Police Borno State, Mr. Damian Chukwu is urging residents to go about their lawful activities without fear as the police will continue to do their best to protect lives and properties.
