Nigeria on Wednesday secured their place in the 2019 World Team Cup championship in Japan.
The Nigerian team beat Egypt 3-1 to emerge as men’s team event winner at the ITTF African Championships in Mauritius.
The trio of Segun Toriola, Aruna Quadri and Bode Abiodun fought well to record a convincing win against the Egyptians.
But it was not same story for the women’s team as they fell 1-3 to the star-studded Egyptian side in the final.
The defeat cost them the slot for the World Team Cup.
Aruna Quadri recorded wins over Ahmed Saleh and Mohamed Saleh while Toriola beat Khaled Assar 3-2 but Bode Abiodun fell 0-3 to Mohammed El-Beiali.
