BREAKING: Many feared killed as Boko Haram attacks IDP camp in Maiduguri



Scores of Boko Haram insurgents on Wednesday evening invaded the Dalori I IDP camp in Maiduguri, killing an unspecified number of displaced persons.

According to a source who spoke with Daily Correspondents on phone, the insurgents invaded the camp with gun trucks and motorcycles around 7.30pm, and shot at many people living within and outside the camp.

He said the insurgents who operated freely for more than 30 minutes until the military came with heavy reinforcements to chase them away, also burnt down some houses inside the camp.

“The attackers struck around 7.30pm, but as I speak with you, the military have mobilised to the area and have driven the insurgents away.”

A civilian CJTF member who also spoke to this newspaper confirmed the attack, but said he could not confirm the actual figure of those killed.

He said many people were injured in the attack and are currently being evacuated to the hospital.

He said men of the fire service have arrived the area and battling to put out the fire in the camp.
