Mai Mala Buni wins Yobe APC governorship primary election

The National Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni, has won the party’s governorship primary election which held in Damaturu yesterday.

In a contest decided at the August 27th Stadium, Mai Mala Buni emerged winner with 2797 votes defeating Hon. Sidi Yakubu Karasuwa, Umar Ali and Aji Kolo who scored 23, 8 and 4 votes respectively.

Governor Ibrahim, who spoke at the venue shortly after the result was announced in the early hours of this morning, said the election was conducted in an excellent, free and fair manner and was devoid of rancour.

The governor commended the election panel for a good job and called on party faithful to sustain the spirit of unity and sense of common purpose that are the hallmarks of the APC in Yobe State.

In his remark, the winner, Mai Mala Buni, thanked Gov. Ibrahim Gaidam for his unwavering support and the party delegates for what they did to make it happen.

“I am grateful to Almighty Allah (SWT). I am thankful to Your Excellency Governor Gaidam for the solid support I always receive from you. I am thankful to all the delegates and party officials and the election panel. This victory is for all of us. I assure you and call on all our party members to work even harder to deliver the state to the APC during the general election and actualise the dream of ensuring the continuity of the development of our state”, he said.

Two of the contestants, Sidi Karasuwa and Umar Ali, who also spoke said the result of the contest was a demonstration of the will of God, who bestows power to whosoever He wishes.

Umar Ali prayed Almighty Allah to bless the outcome and make it beneficial to the people of the state.
