BREAKING: Buhari to visit Maiduguri tomorrow (Wednesday)

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Wednesday (tomorrow) pay a one-day official visit to Maiduguri, the Borno State government has disclosed.

Announcing the planned visit of the President, Borno State Commissioner for Information, Mohammed Bulama, in a statement emailed to Daily Correspondents this evening, said President Buhari is specifically visiting Maiduguri to declare open the Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference which was originally slated for Benin, Edo State, but moved to Borno State.

The statement read:

On behalf of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Borno State, Hon. Kashim Shettima, I have the pleasure to announce that His Excellency, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, is paying a one-day official visit to Borno State tomorrow, Wednesday, 28th November 2018.

Mr. President is specifically visiting Maiduguri to declare open the Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference which was originally slated for Benin, Edo State.

On arrival at 11.30am tomorrow, Mr. President will proceed to the Palace of His Royal Highness, the Shehu of Borno to pay the Monarch a courtesy call. He shall thereafter proceed to the venue of the Conference at the Command Guest Inn, Baga Road, Maiduguri.

After flagging-off the Conference, Mr. President is expected to head back to the Maiduguri International Airport enroute to Abuja.

By this announcement, I am calling on the members of the general public, including civil society groups, clubs and associations, civil servants, the labour movement, students, APC members and supporters and all lovers of PMB to troop out enmasse to line up the streets where Mr. President is expected to pass through during his visit to give him a rousing and befitting welcome to Borno State.

President Buhari deserves a second term of four years in office, as a man who demonstrably loves Borno, we are duty bound to reciprocate by showing him our own love and support tomorrow.
