BREAKING: Police arrest most wanted and ‘deadliest’ Boko Haram terrorist leader

Operatives of the IGP Intelligence Response Team, IRT, have arrested a most wanted and deadly Boko Haram terrorist leader identified as Umar, multiple police sources told Daily Correspondents.

According to one source, who asked not to be mentioned because he was authorised to speak to the press, Umar was arrested on Thursday by the Inspector General of Police IRT Special Forces led by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari.

He said Umar who has caused the death of several police officers nationwide, was also the mastermind of the Kuje and Nya-Nya Abuja bombings of 2015 that led to several loss of lives.

He said the arrested terrorist leader was also the overall commander of Edo and Ondo multiple bank robberies as well as mastermind of several killings in Okene axis of Kogi State.

He was also said to be the gang-leader of the Galadimawa Roundabout killing of 7 Police officers as well as Lugbe police officers killer and Gwagwalada area police killings, all in Abuja.

He was also the “Grand Commander” of the attack and rescue operations of the prison in Niger State early this year where he lost one of his eyes during the operation in which over 100 prisoners escaped.

According to another source, Umar was said to have escaped with bullet wounds from Abuja three weeks ago when IRT teams engaged him in a shoot out and  arrested four of his gang members as well as recovered 4 AK47 rifles and hundreds of ammunitions.

The IRT, led by Nigeria’s finest detective and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, has so far cracked several high profile criminal cases in the country.
