UPDATED: Borno deputy governor’s convoy in auto crash, 4 dead

A convoy of the Borno State deputy governor, Usman Mamman Durkwa, was Monday involved in a ghastly motor accident along the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway while on their way to Gombe State, killing four policemen on the team.

The incident occurred when the deputy governor’s team departed Maiduguri and on their way to Gombe State to pick their boss who arrived Gombe from Nasarawa State were he had gone to condole the government of Nasarawa over the death of the Emir of Lafia.

A media aide of Durkwa who was in the entourage of the deputy governor in Gombe, broke the news to Daily Correspondents.

He said one of the police officers that died in the fatal accident was a security aide of the deputy governor while the remaining three were from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, in Maiduguri.
