Shiite protesters kill Deputy Commissioner of Police, Umar Usman in Abuja

A Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operation of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Umar Usman, is feared killed during Monday afternoon’s clash between the operatives of the Nigeria Police Force and members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, IMN, popularly known as Shiites.

According to a report by the PRNigeria, Mr Umar was killed by the protesters while trying to prevent the hostile action of destruction of property at the axis of the federal sec

“Consequent of the violence, security was beefed up at the Force headquarters to prevent reprisal attacks over the arrest of scores of the protesters who are demanding the release of the spiritual sect leader, Sheikh Ibraheem El Zakzaky,” the report said.

Recall that some members of the Shi’ite group had once again clashed with operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in a protest, leading to the death of one suspected Shiite protester in Abuja.
