A former deputy governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Obadiah Mailafia, has raised an alerm that the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, might be “used, dumped and crushed in the end.”

Mr Mailafia made the statement while reacting to a statement by Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna state on zoning arrangements for the office of President.

He added that the 1999 constitution does not require zoning for such office.

The former CBN deputy governor went on to say that Mr Tinubu, though gifted to identify talents, seems not to understand “the kind of political animals he is dealing with.”

He said: “He does not know that they just want to use him and crush him.

“He would be wise to be wary of those whose traditions of rulership allow them to give their daughter to you in marriage for the sole purpose of finding out your innermost weaknesses, to destroy you better.

“He doesn’t realise that the game-plan is to exploit to the fullest his political and financial capital and to forebear with him until such a time as they are in a position to run him aground.”

Mr Mailafia added that despite his ambition for presidency, Tinubu should understand that “the north will not relinquish power any time soon.”
