EXCLUSIVE: Boko Haram leader Shekau is now a cripple, confined to crutches – Military source

The Boko Haram spiritual leader, Abubakar Shekau has become completely crippled with one of his legs amputated and now confined to the use of crutches following multiple injuries he sustained in an encounter with troops in one of the terrorists’ hideouts in Sambisa forest.

A highly placed military source exclusively told Daily Correspondents that intelligence report have indicated that Abubakar Shekau, who appeared in a new video looking highly demoralized, unlike the once boastful, bragging Shekau that even threatened to attack President Barack Obama of the United States, was said to have been  badly injured on the leg which was later amputated because he could not get immediate medical assistance in his hideout at the forest which has been under siege by the military.

In what appears to be a shocking change of heart in the new video, the dreaded Boko Haram leader has admitted to given up his  dream for an Islamic state.
In the video trending online, Abubakar Shekau, who had grown emaciated and looked calm throughout his speech in Arabic and Hausa Language,  told his followers fighting for the cause of God that his part has ended.

His words “I know my own has finished, this is the end for me ohh you brothers what is remaining now is for you to expect my message yes you should expect my message.”

Our military source revealed that some of the terrorists who voluntarily surrendered to troops recently made the revelation about Shekau’s present state of health.
“Shekau is no longer the Shekau he used to be, he is crippled, with a leg amputated, that I can confirm to you and it is for real, going by revelations from terrorists that recently surrendered.

“The injury is life threatening. He is no longer strong. He is weak now. This latest video confirms every thing about the once boisterous Shekau that even threatened to deal with the President of the United States, Barack Obama,” our military source said.

However, the Director of Information, Brigadier General Rabe Abubakar, in his response to the latest video,  said  the military will not let down its guard but will continue to fight in order to consolidate the successes recorded so far.

He also reassured Nigerians that all persons still being held captive by the Boko Haram terrorists, would regain their freedom soon with the ongoing military’s final offensive against the terrorists.
“While the Nigerian Military would not rest until all the remnants of the terrorist group are completely wiped out of our blessed land, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin, wishes to commend all officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces for their sacrifices, determination and courage to degrade the terrorists and task them to complete the good job they have started soonest in line with our rules of engagement.

“The said video clips should therefore be discountenanced as it could be another ploy or antics of the terrorists to keep our innocent citizen off their current security alertness to maximize casualties if attacked. The Nigerian Armed Forces are now determined more than ever before to end this ugly trend.

“Members of the public are also advised not to be carried away by the video clips, but to be extra vigilant and be security conscious at all times during Easter celebration and beyond.  Public is also reminded to report any suspicious strange faces, movement and object to the nearest security agency so as to counter any unholy plans of the Godless terrorist group.”
