Borno State governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has urged citizens of the state to continue to pray for peace to reign, while also reiterating his commitment to ensure the security of lives of his people.
The governor made the call on Tuesday shortly after performing the two raakat prayers to commemorate the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
The prayers which was the first to be attended by Zulum as governor, was observed in a peaceful atmosphere with thousands of the citizens of the state in attendance.
The two raakat prayers was led by the Imam Eidain of Borno Imam Mamman Shettima Saleh at the State eid ground, Ramat Square, Maiduguri.
His Eminence, the Shehu of Borno Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Garbai El Amin El Kanemi was also at the Eid ground for the two raakat prayers.
Prominent sons of Borno that accompanied the governor to the eid prayer ground also included, the Borno APC Chairman, Ali Bukar Dalori, Senator representing Borno South, Mohammed Ali Ndume, as well as new
members of the House of Representatives and Borno State House of Assembly and other top politicians in the state.
Daily Correspondents observed that security at the venue was very tight throughout the occasion.
